COVID is on the rise, however, vaccination is still highly effective in preventing serious illness-hospitalizations and death in more than 90 percent of cases. If you are not vaccinated, this is still highly advised.
Nearly 100 percent of people in hospital ICUs in Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point have not been vaccinated.
The newer Delta variant is spreading rapidly. Many do not experience a loss of taste or sense of smell. Also, symptoms may vary or not seem severe.
Across the world, ICUs are having persons show up that have been fully vaccinated; but again, this number is very small.
Some data seems to indicate that the level of antibody protection of COVID vaccines will diminish after 6 months. Additionally, some vaccinated people may get infected with COVID, but they will most likely have a very low rate of serious illness.
COVID IS AGAIN ON THE RISE, WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:
- Vaccination remains the best protection against serious illness or death!
- Wear your mask and use hand gel regularly.
- If you have been sick for 48 hours with respiratory symptoms or severe fatigue or aches, go to Bethany Medical for Rapid and PCR testing and flu testing.
- Please let your provider know you have been vaccinated, so your patient chart is accurate.
