Elise Peters-Carey Named CEO as Founder Dr. Lenny Peters Transitions to Chairman

Bethany Medical today announced that Elise Peters-Carey has been appointed Chief Executive Officer in addition to her role as President. Founder Dr. Lenny Peters will transition from Chief Executive Officer to Chairman of Bethany Medical and Peters Holdings as part of the organization’s long-term succession strategy.
Since joining Bethany Medical as President in 2016, Peters-Carey has led the organization’s strategy and growth, helping expand it from 30 providers across six locations to more than 65 providers across 16 locations. Bethany Medical is now the largest independent healthcare provider in the Triad.

Under Peters-Carey’s leadership, Bethany Medical has been recognized as High Point’s Best Business of the Year, named among the Triad Business Journal’s Top 50 Growing Companies for four consecutive years and honored as a Leader in Diversity. Peters-Carey has also been recognized as a Top C-Suite Executive and Top Female Business Leader by the Triad Business Journal and as an Influencers: Rising Stars honoree by The Business Journals.
Before joining Bethany Medical, Peters-Carey held leadership positions with American Express and Capital One. She earned both her MBA and B.S. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Peters founded Bethany Medical more than 40 years ago as a solo medical practice and built it into one of the Triad’s largest independent healthcare organizations. As Chairman, he will continue to provide strategic leadership to Bethany Medical and Peters Holdings.

In her expanded role, she will lead Bethany Medical’s continued growth and focus on expanding access to comprehensive healthcare across the Piedmont Triad.
