April 18th, 2026
High Point, NC — April 18, 2026 — Bethany Medical sponsored the 2026 Lenny Peters Cup for the fourth consecutive year, delivering an elite international rowing competition while generating significant economic impact for the Triad region at Oak Hollow Festival Park, High Point, NC. The regatta produced nearly $2 million in economic activity and more than 2,800 hotel rooms booked across High Point and surrounding communities, according to the Visit High Point organization.
Bethany Medical supports the regatta’s broader mission of promoting health, discipline, and youth development through sport. Rowing, in particular, was highlighted as a model of structure, endurance, and healthy lifestyle habits for young athletes.
The event is one of the only regattas in North America where U.S. rowers compete directly against World and Olympic-caliber athletes. This year’s competition welcomed athletes from nine countries, reinforcing its global reach and continued growth as a premier international rowing event.
Additionally, more than 1,000 rowers competed in the North Carolina Rowing Championships, spanning youth, collegiate, and adult divisions. The regatta featured 526 boats from 36 clubs and 7 nations, marking the largest rowing event ever held in North Carolina.
Team USA opened the competition with a strong performance, winning all four single sculls matchups. Grace Joyce, Sam Melvin, and Isa Darvin secured early victories, while Cedar Cunningham added another point with a win over World Team competitor Sholto Carnegie.
The World Team responded in the Men’s Double, where Martin Mačković and Nikolaj Pimenov defeated Americans Jacob Plihal and Caleb Nollenberger. Team USA answered in the Women’s Double, with Sophia Vitas and Evan Park earning a decisive victory over Canada’s Avalon Wasteneys and Katie Clark.
